David Thompson is an Associate and a member of the firm’s business transactions team. His practice focuses on taxation, estate planning, mergers and acquisitions, business formations, and probate and tax planning for closely held and mid sized businesses. Originally from South Florida, David’s personal experiences shaped his compassionate approach to client service. After overcoming significant health challenges during childhood, he developed a strong appreciation for the value of trusted professional guidance. He later moved to the Upstate to attend Anderson University, where he played baseball and met his wife. An internship and clerkship with Judge R. Lawton McIntosh introduced him to the intersection of business and law and confirmed his decision to pursue a legal career. David earned his Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of California, Irvine, and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He advises clients on business structuring, tax strategy, and estate planning, often serving as a long term advisor to local family owned businesses. He has been recognized by Greenville Business Magazine as one of the Best and Brightest Under 35, a Legal Elite award recipient, and is listed in Best Lawyers Ones to Watch in America. Outside the office, David enjoys spending time with his wife, Sadie, their daughters Violet and Harper, and following Anderson University baseball.
